Upstate partners with Strong Hearts to offer vegan items in Café 750

Upstate University Hospital has partnered with Strong Hearts to offer grab-and-go vegan options in Café 750 on the second floor of the hospital. The offering is part of Upstate’s ongoing sustainability initiatives to provide more healthful and sustainable food options for staff, students and visitors. Donations sought for Mary Nelson’s backpack and school supplies drive

New school supplies and new or gently used backpacks will be accepted until Aug. 4 at various locations throughout campus. For drop box locations, visit gnexc.gz-jlwl.com/backpack. Mindful Meditation is every Tuesday

Mindful Meditation will be held every Tuesday from 11 to 11:15 a.m. via WebEx. Annemarie Cristino, LCSW, CEAP, coordinator of Upstate’s Employee Assistance Program, will offer 15 minutes of mindful meditation instruction and information. Mandatory sexual harassment prevention education reminder

The Office of Institutional Equity reminds all Upstate employees to complete their annual, mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. This training can be located in Brightspace, by logging in, and navigating to the “My Training” tab in the blue banner at the top of the page. Note: This is the first year the mandatory annual training will be assigned to faculty, state, research, and MedBest providers through Brightspace. Complete training to avoid ongoing reminder emails. HealthLink on financial resources for prostate cancer costs is July 27

HealthLink will host a virtual session on financial resources for prostate cancer costs July 27 at 5 p.m. via Zoom. Linda Naples, financial counselor at Upstate Cancer Center, will provide tools and resources that can lighten some of the financial stress associated with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Upstate Breastfeeding Medicine Program open house is Aug. 1

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Month, Upstate’s Breastfeeding Medicine Program will host an open house Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Physician Office Building South-1D at Community. The Upstate Community is welcome. Educational displays will be featured at both Upstate University Hospital and Community during the month of August. Those in need of lactation support may call the Upstate Lactation Help Line at 315-464-MILK.

Easy for You is Aug. 8

Easy for You, Upstate's tobacco treatment program, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in C3068 on the third floor of Upstate Cancer Center. Everyone with an Upstate ID is welcome to receive help quitting tobacco, chew, and vape. Free nicotine replacement therapy is available. Joey’s Wish will host a Putt Putt weekend Aug. 19 and 20

Joey’s Wish will host a Putt Putt weekend Aug. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to midnight at Fairmount Glen’s putt putt golf course. Ten percent of ticket sales will be donated to Joey’s Wish Fund, held at the Upstate Foundation. Tickets are $25 each and include two hours of putt putt and a free ice cream.
